Peshawar: Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Mahmood Khan has decided to open the Swat Expressway to all vehicular traffic in May, a news source reported. The project will be inaugurated on May 1.

The decision was taken in a meeting between Khan and the Federal Minister for Communication Murad Saeed. National Highways Authority Chairman Jawad Rafique Malik, Frontier Works Organisation Director General Maj Gen Inam Haider Malik, Pakhtunkhwa Highways Authority MD, Secretary Communication and Works, Secretary Irrigation, and the Project Director Swat Motorway also attended the meeting.

During the session, the pace of work on the Swat Motorway was reviewed. It was estimated that the construction process would be completed by April, and the road ready for inauguration in May.
The meeting also discussed extension plans for the Swat Motorway. It was agreed that the road will be extended to integrate Malakand division with Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.
The decision to open the Kohat-DI Khan road to traffic soon was also taken.
