Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Sardar Usman Buzdar has underscored the importance of utilising historical buildings for tourism purposes, a news source reported. He expressed his views on the matter during a meeting with several delegations on Saturday. He stated that tourism promotion was part of the incumbent government’s economic policy.

The CM announced that the executive would develop new tourist spots under its comprehensive tourism policy recently announced for the province. He added that the authorities concerned would ensure the provision of all necessary facilities at tourist destinations.
Moreover, he said that the development of Punjab’s tourism sector would facilitate the creation of job opportunities in related sectors. He added that the government planned to adopt best practices for utilising its resources.

He also appreciated the authorities concerned for their ‘exemplary step of opening up rest houses for the public’. He added that the citizens would surely benefit from the quality boarding and lodging facilities being provided at these state guest houses.
