Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Usman Buzdar announced a 20% decrease in transport fares – after the authorities allowed resuming inter-city and inter-district transport services within the province, according to a news source. He stated that the measure aims to provide relief to citizens.

Additionally, the chief minister revealed that the Punjab government has allowed online taxi and transport services to resume operations – under adherence to strict standard operation procedures (SOPs). Resultantly, the drivers, the conductors and the passengers will wear masks. Moreover, the passengers will also have to maintain adequate social distancing. The transportation services must also provide hand sanitisers in the vehicles. The bus services will also disinfect the vehicles after reaching their destination.

Buzdar attributed the decrease in transport fares to the reduction in petroleum prices. He stated that such benefits should be passed on to the common man.
