Faisalabad: Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Sardar Usman Buzdar on Wednesday announced a PKR 13 billion development package for the city; stating that the provincial executive had provided its approval to 13 Special Economic Zones (SEZs), seven of which had been notified by the federal government.

He addressing exporters and traders in Faisalabad. He stated that several facilities including roads, parks, sewerage system and water supply schemes will be initiated under this PKR 13 billion package. He said that health and educational infrastructure will also be improved to promote better life quality.
The chief minister also spoke to a delegation of the All Pakistan Mines and Minerals Association (headed by its President Mir Behroz Reki Baloch). The CM assured the delegates that a decision to lift the ban on coal mines’ lease had been made; adding that the provincial cabinet was in the process to lift the ban on renewal of mines lease. Furthermore, it was stated that various options will be reviewed for brick-kilns to promote environment-friendly technology in the sector.

The CM issued directions for the mines and environment departments to submit a detailed report about the alternate technology to be used for brick-kilns. The mining sector was assured of full support by the provincial government.
