Peshawar: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister (CM) Mahmood Khan on Wednesday launched the development work on the Jalozai Economic Zone located within the Nowshera district by officiating its ground-breaking ceremony, according to news sources.

According to reports, the KP Economic Zones Development and Management Company (EZDMC) is developing the Jalozai Economic Zone over 257 acres of land. The project is likely to generate 5,000 direct and indirect jobs, and is expected to attract an investment of worth PKR 6 billion.
The chief minister called the occasion a ‘historic event which will mark the beginning of the rapid industrialisation in the province’. Given its strategic location, the project will be a game-changer, he added. Khan further planted a sapling on the site to launch the tree plantation campaign under the Clean and Green Pakistan initiative.
EZDMC Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Javed Khattak told the CM that the company is expediting efforts for industrialisation, aimed at the development of a sustainable agro-based industrial ecosystem in the southern part of the province. He also revealed that the company plans to capitalise on the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) route.

The official statement issued regarding the Jalozai Economic Zone said that the project will accommodate Pakistan hunting and sporting arms cluster. Furthermore, it stated that construction, food processing, pharmaceutical, marble and granite, food packaging and furniture industries will also benefit from the project.
It said that for the provision of all required utilities to the zone, the EZDMC is working on an agreement with the Provincial Housing Authority (PHA) for the supply of 5 to 10 MW electricity from the nearby 132 KV grid station’s 11 KV feeder – planned for the adjoining housing society. Moreover, it was also revealed the EZMDC has subsidised the plots’ process to promote industrialisation.
