Quetta: Balochistan Chief Minister (CM) Jam Kamal Khan Alyani has directed the Environment Department to take initiative and suggest legislation to ensure that obtaining an NOC (no-objection certificate) was made mandatory for going about any mega public and private sector project construction endeavours, according to a news source published on August 12.

The chief minister was presiding over a meeting that reviewed various agendas presented by the provincial Environment Department and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Secretary Environment and Environmental Protection briefed the meeting on various environmental matters and proposed reforms.
Alyani addressed the meeting and said that climate change is a serious environmental threat that should be met with reforms and modern technology for an efficient solution. He opined that with the incentive announced by the centre for the construction sector and development plans of coastal and surrounding areas, revolutionary progress is expected. The CM also called for a comprehensive policy to regulate the development process and make it environment-friendly.

Additionally, the meeting reviewed the formation of the Sustainable Development Fund and reviewed the role and service rules of the Balochistan Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
