Gwadar: Balochistan’s Chief Minister (CM), Mir Abdul Qudoos Bizenjo, has instructed the Gwadar Development Authority (GDA) to involve and consult locals in the city’s infrastructure development projects, news sources reported on April 26. He said that including locals in decision-making will aid in problem resolution and build confidence.

CM Bizenjo, who presided over the GDA’s 23rd meeting, stated that dialogue should take place prior to the start of new initiatives as well. During the meeting, GDA Director General Mujeebur Rehman Qambrani informed the committee members on ongoing development initiatives in the port city, as well as budget spending and allocation for various projects. The meeting was also updated on the institutional budget for the fiscal year 2021-2022, as well as the amendment budget for 2020-2021, which received some objections.

It is important to remember that the GDA has been charged with developing the Gwadar Master Plan with the participation of all relevant stakeholders and locals. The last GDA conference also voted to retain the historic city infrastructure as a tourist attraction location.
