Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi has given the final approval for granting Taunsa the status of a district, according to news published on December 16.

A meeting was held with CM Elahi at his office, which was attended by Dera Ghazi (DG) Khan’s parliamentarians including Saifuddin Khosa, Muhammad Khan Leghari, Ali Raza Dreshak and Rai Zahoor, Makhdoom Raza, Kh. Shiraz Mahmood, Sardar Muhammad Mohyuddin Khosa, and Javed Akhtar Lund.
The news source mentioned that the parliamentarian thanked the CM for granting the district status to Taunsa. They went on to say that the suffering of the people will be eased and it will bring economic prosperity to the area.

It is pertinent to note that the status of Taunsa as a district was announced by CM Elahi in 2005. Now, he gave the final approval. Taunsa is the 5th additional district to be granted the status in a short time frame after Murree, Talagang, Kot Addu, and Wazirabad.
