Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Sardar Usman Buzdar on Friday (October 1) approved three megaprojects totalling PKR 25 billion for Lahore, news sources reported. The project includes the construction of an elevated Expressway from Guberg to the M2 Motorway, the repair and renovation of Sagian Road, and the resumption of work on 11 sports complexes around the city.

The chief minister instructed the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) to prioritise the completion of the PKR 15 billion Elevated Expressway financial model. The elevated expressway will start from Gulberg and connect Canal Bank Road, Jail Road, Ferozepur Road, Multan Road, and Band Road to the Babu Sabo interchange. The initiative is intended to reduce traffic congestion on Lahore’s crowded roads by 65 %. Additionally, LDA was also tasked with rehabilitating Sagian Road and complete the work in the current financial year.

CM Buzdar also asked LDA to resume construction work on the much delayed 11 sports complex in the city. The project is expected to cost PKR 4 billion. The meeting was presided over by Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Bazdar, and provincial ministers Mian Aslam Iqbal and Asad Khokhar, as well as the Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, DG LDA, and other officials.
