Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Sardar Usman Buzdar has approved the draft law concerned with the Punjab Overseas Pakistanis Commission (OPC), a news source reported.
He directed the commission working on the law’s preparation to present its final recommendations after consultation with the line departments concerned.

The CM was presiding over the first board meeting of the OPC. He directed the officials concerned to dispose all pending cases on a priority basis. During the session, the formation of district-level OPC committees was also agreed upon.
The meeting also approved the constitution of an advisory council.
Speaking on the occasion, the CM said that the overseas Pakistanis comprised a ‘precious asset’ for the country. Their role in strengthening the national economy cannot be ignored. He added that the government will extend all possible facilities to them.

OPC Commissioner Usman Anwar briefed the meeting on the performance of OPC. He pointed out that 77 cases pertaining to expatriates had been resolved during the tenure of the incumbent government. As a result, properties worth PKR 340 million have been retrieved.
