Lahore: The Punjab chief minister (CM) has approved three flyovers to be constructed in Shahdara – at a cost of PKR 5 billion – to ensure effective traffic management in the area, a news source reported. The CM issued directions to the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) to begin work on the project.

LDA, acting on the chief minister’s instructions, has prepared the initial design for the project as well. Shahdara-GT Road will have two 3-lane flyovers – one on Niazi Chowk-Gujranwala route, and the other on Gujranwala-Niazi Chowk route. The third flyover will be a one-way, two-lane flyover constructed on the Kot Abdul Malik-Niazi Chowk route.

Signal-free traffic will be ensured through the construction of roundabouts below the flyovers. Reportedly, the total length of all the three flyovers will approximately be 1.6 kilometres and a total land of 28 Kanal will be acquired.
An approximate total of 195,280 vehicles are expected to pass over these daily.
