Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Sardar Usman Buzdar has announced a comprehensive plantation drive around the province, to be initiated on Tiger Force Day on August 9 — a news source reported on August 4. On the occasion, 520 events will be held across the province during which 1.2 million saplings will be planted.

The CM chaired a high-level meeting on the matter to review the state of preparation for the initiative. Addressing the session, he stated that Tiger Force Day would be used as an opportunity to reiterate the government’s determination to make Punjab green. He added that trees will also be planted under various urban forestry projects in selected cities.

Reportedly, the trees will be planted by the provincial ministers and elected representatives. The CM also said that as per Prime Minister Imran Khan’s vision, both the provincial and federal governments were determined to meet the target of planting 10 billion trees by 2023.
