Murree: Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Hamza Shehbaz has directed the city administration of Murree to prepare a report about the illegal construction of buildings and encroachment in the city, news sources reported on May 18. He also directed the authorities to restore tourist attraction sites in the hill station.

According to reports, during a visit to the hill station, the CM examined several areas of the city, including the Tehsil Head Quarter (THQ) hospital, and expressed his concern with the mushroom development of encroachments surrounding the hospital. Furthermore, at a meeting held at Murree’s government house, CM Hamza asked the deputy commissioner (DC) and other officials to prepare a report on the establishment of a water treatment and recycling plant to address the city’s water scarcity issue.

The following proposals were approved during the meeting:
- Rapid restoration of the Allama Iqbal Library
- Development of pedestrian streets and the rehabilitation of Pindi Point, as well as the restoration and beautification of link roads and street lights

- Rehabilitation and restoration of the general bus stand June
- Installation of computerized tourist and traffic information counters at the bus stand
- Establishment of control rooms by the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) and the tourism department to deal with emergencies
