Islamabad: Chief Justice Saqib Nisar has warned against any further delays pertaining to the completion and operationalisation of Orange Line Metro Train (OLMT) project, a news source reported. A three-judge bench of the Supreme Court heard the OLMT case.
As the proceedings went on, the top judge observed that the court would not tolerate delays in the completion of the project, which is way past its deadline.
The bench, while appointing Justice (retired) Iqbal Hameed-ur-Rehman as the arbitrator between the government and civic bodies concerned, adjourned the hearing for an indefinite period.
The transport department had earlier released PKR 190 million for land acquisition and allied services. Lahore Development Authority (LDA), however, failed to secure additional funds for the revised design of OLMT.
The civic body had requested the Punjab Government for revised administrative approval, saying the planning and finance departments approved changes in the project. The two departments asked the civic body to seek additional funds from the competent authority that developed the project.
