Islamabad: The civil society staged a protest against the frequent incidents of fires breaking out in Margalla Hills on Saturday, May 26, reported a news source. The protesters chanted slogans against the city’s administration and development authority.
The protestors believe that the timber mafia is behind these fire breakouts as they intend to protect their own vested interests. According to them, the fire in Margalla Hills has disturbed the capital’s climate conditions, where felling of trees is causing the temperature to rise. They also expressed concerns over construction of high-rise buildings, which, according to them, is also contributing to the rising mercury.
