Karachi: Departments concerned have been asked to submit details of land allotted by them in order to remove the bottlenecks regarding the ongoing anti-encroachment drive, a news source reported. The decision was taken in a meeting of the city administration chaired by Karachi Iftikhar Shallwani.
Shallwani ordered deputy commissioners Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC), Karachi Development Authority (KDA), and other relevant bodies to submit their respective reports on land allotments within 10 days.
The reports and recommendations will be forwarded to the chief secretary who would decide on further action against encroachers. The city administration is also providing alternative shops to as many as 1,470 shopkeepers out of 3,575 traders displaced during the operation.
So far, KMC has razed thousands of illegal structures and establishments – including 2,500 shops in Saddar area of the metropolis. It also demolished 5,000 encroachments that were raised in front of 139 shops in Khori Garden.
