Lahore: The new name and inauguration date for Chubacha Phatak Underpass – the largest underpass of the city – has been finalised, according to a news source. The Punjab Chief Minister has named it Beijing Underpass and he will inaugurate it on November 25.
The new name was chosen by the CM, who rejected the names proposed earlier by the Lahore Development Authority (LDA). The signboards for Beijing Underpass will be erected in the next two days, while the LDA needs five more days to complete the finishing work on the project. Asphalt carpeting is being done for the 13-kilometre long underpass at the moment, while the Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) is busy beautifying the project with floral plants.
The project is currently the second largest development project of Lahore, the first being Orange Line Metro Train Project. The final carpeting for the road will be started here in the next two days.
