Islamabad: A Chinese research ship visited Pakistan recently to conduct hydrocarbon research and a geological mapping survey, according to a news source. The said China Geological Survey Research Ship (CGS) Hai Yang Di Zhi Shi Hao worked in coordination with the Pakistan Navy.
The CGS conducted various surveys in Pakistan’s offshore areas, and made a number of seismic and oceanographic observations during the process. Scientists from the National Institute of Oceanography also participated in this research venture.
The data acquired from this project will be compiled and analysed by both Chinese and Pakistani scientists.
This expedition form part of the growing cooperation link between the two countries in the fields of geological surveys and oceanography. These surveys are also being conducted to assist with the resource mapping efforts on Pakistan’s offshore areas.
