Islamabad: Minister for Planning & Development Asad Umar on Thursday (March 3) briefed the Parliamentary Committee on China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) that Chinese industries have agreed to relocate industries to Pakistan, news sources reported on March 4.

During the briefing, Minister Umar said that investors were invited during the recent visit of Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan to China. The premier briefed industrialists and inventors about the great potential and industry-friendly investment opportunities, especially in the textile, footwear, pharmaceutical and IT sectors. He also highlighted the comparative incentive-based data, revealing that Pakistan outperformed other special economic zones worldwide.
According to the minister, the Chinese companies will build a metal and paper recycling facility in Gwadar and a Special Economic Zone (SEZ) along the Lahore-Kasur Road for the expansion of the cotton and dairy sectors. The committee applauded the ministers’ efforts and advised coordinated efforts to make the Faisalabad and Karachi SEZs more appealing to multinational corporations for investment.

During the same session, the Chairman National Highway Authority (NHA) Capt. (Retd) Muhammad Khurram Agha told the Committee that the right-of-way to the Rashakai Economic Zone would be given soon following the completion of paperwork by its management.
