Karachi: The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has announced that the first plane carrying protective equipment – aimed at helping Pakistan deal with novel coronavirus – from China has landed at the Karachi airport, according to news sources.
The medical supplies included one million face masks, including N-95 masks, to assist people with coronavirus prevention. The NDMA officials and Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah were present at the airport when the plane landed.
Yesterday (March 24), Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan had announced a relief package of worth 1.2 trillion to help the already struggling nation face the novel coronavirus. As per the new package, a monthly aid of PKR 3,000 will be given to over 10.2 million people for four months.
As per reports, the prices of gas/diesel have also
been slashed by PKR 15 per litre. The government has also earmarked PKR 50 for
utility stores. Khan, in his address to the nation, assured people that ‘the
government will do everything in its power to look out for the people in these
tough times’. He also urged the people to exercise coronavirus preventive
measures and stay indoors.
