Islamabad: Federal Minister for Planning Development Asad Umar on Wednesday (December 01) invited Chinese investors and industrialists to invest in Pakistan’s growing textile industry, news sources reported. He stated that the government is taking steps to encourage collaboration and create a win-win situation for both China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) partners.

Speaking at an online conference co-hosted by the CPEC Authority and the China Chamber of Commerce, he stated that the import and export-oriented textile and textile-related sectors are appealing to Chinese investors operating under CPEC. On the occasion, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on CPEC Affairs Khalid Mansoor stated that the legal framework was being updated to make it simpler for investors to start and manage their businesses.

He went on to say that the prospects presented by CPEC are vast and that bilateral collaboration is required to fully exploit these opportunities and benefit both countries. Furthermore, the meeting was briefed on continuing work in several Special Economic Zones (SEZs) around the country to assist in industrialisation. The meeting was organised by the CPEC authorities and the Chinese Embassy in Islamabad.
