Islamabad: Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Asad Umar on Tuesday said that the Chinese investors are willing to invest USD 1 billion in the South Balochistan Package, news sources reported.

The South Balochistan project is part of the Balochistan development package announced in November 2020 and is 35 times bigger than the previous North free zone of Gwadar.
Moreover, the minister said that the government has included 53 development projects totalling over PKR 600 billion in the current fiscal year’s development programme (2021-22).

In addition, PKR 1200 billion worth of projects will be executed under the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) in Balochistan. The minister also added that the federal and provincial governments are working in sync to smoothly execute the development work in the province.
Moreover, he also stated that to better facilitate the youth of Balochistan, internet facilities are being provided to them.
