Beijing: The Gilgit-Baltistan Government has reached out to Chinese investors to fund the construction of five-star hotels in the scenic valley, a news source reported. The management of Serena Hotel by the famous Hashoo Group has asked for support in this regard.
Raja Nazeem-ul-Ameen, vice chairman of the Board of Investment (BOI), Gilgit-Baltistan chapter, said that the construction of a five-star hotel would soon be started to boost tourism in the area.
A delegation of commercial and political attachés from the Chinese Embassy had recently visited Gilgit-Baltistan to inspect facilities for the tourists.
Raja Nazeem expressed the hope that the construction of the first such hotel in the area would start early next year, saying that such an initiative would boost tourism and create job opportunities.
He said that more than 22,000 foreign tourists visited Gilgit-Baltistan this year, which was a good number, as a total of around 1.5 million local and international tourists visited the area in the last three years.
