Lahore: A Chinese firm called the Shaanxi Huashan Construction Group Co will construct additional lanes at the Ratodero-Shikarpur section of N-55, a news source reported on August 28. The company won the bid by the National Highway Authority for the 43.3-km-long project.

According to the details revealed, the Ratodero-Shikarpur section project on N-55 is the first winning initiative issued by NHA in 2020. On the other hand, the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) also signed another construction contract with a joint venture led by the China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC).
The construction contract pertains to the upgradation of the Lahore Allama Iqbal International Airport. The project comprises the upgradation of the drainage ditch and avionics system, along with the refurbishing of the airport’s runway.

A CCECC official said that the company would use advance techniques and professional experts to upgrade the airport so that situation could improve on the premises. As per details, the project will also help further enhance the country’s connectivity window, along with promotion of local employment and economic development.
