Islamabad: The newly-appointed Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan, Nong Rong, on Thursday met Minister for Planning Development and Special Initiatives Asad Umar and the two officials vowed to expedite the work on the second phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), according to news sources.

The two state officials expressed a marked interest in the matters related to industrial cooperation. Other issues that were discussed involved bilateral relations and various projects being developed under the CPEC. They reiterated their resolve to work together to make the second phase of CPEC, a success.

Moreover, the state officials expressed satisfaction on the Joint Working Groups (JWGs) meetings that were conducted in the recent few weeks, related to several sectors. Minister Asad Umar extended his welcome to the ambassador on his new assignments and wished him best endeavours. He iterated that the China-Pakistan relationship goes deeper than the government level cooperation as the people of two countries also share a strong sense of brotherhood.
