Islamabad: Chinese investment formed close to half of the total Foreign Direct Investment of $ 2.410 billion that the country received during the year 2016-17, a news source reported. The report further added that Chinese firms have been investing in infrastructure development including electricity generation, and $35 billion out of CPEC’s investment would be reserved for energy projects.
According to the same report which details the dinner in honour of the newly appointed Chinese Ambassador, Pakistan will become self-sufficient by 2018 with the addition of 10,000 megawatts. Another 15,000 megawatts will also be added to the country’s electricity output between 2023 and 2025.
