Islamabad: China’s state-backed E-Hualu Information Technology has won the USD 83.6 million bid to build a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system in Pakistan, a news source reported. The project will improve road connectivity in Rawalpindi, for which the company will manage provision of supplies, installation, and support services.
The tender involves ten years of operation and maintenance for the intelligent transport system, ticketing and stations, once construction is complete. This is E-Hualu’s second major project in Pakistan, the company announced. It indicates the firm’s competence in the smart transport sector has been recognised by the global market, added the statement.

The system included an electronic policing system, access control, and a vehicle monitoring platform. The system had been built to protect Islamabad from terrorist threats. The company also provides city services for more than 300 cities in China and other countries.
