Islamabad: A Chinese state-owned company has provided USD 100,000 to the Ministry of National Food Security and Research to help Pakistan tackle locust infestation in the country – a news source reported on August 20. The funds will be used by the ministry to make its response to locust waves more effective.

The representatives of the Chinese company handed over the cheque to the Federal Minister for National Food Syed Fakhar Iman on Wednesday. The ceremony was also attended by the Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Yao Jing.
On the occasion the minister thanked the Chinese company for its support and praised the friendly relations between Pakistan and China. He noted that agriculture is one of the major avenues on which the two countries can improve their collaboration and benefit economically.

Pakistan has been facing a locust infestation since last year and China has been providing a variety of technical and financial assistance on the matter.
