Islamabad: China has decided to use Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology for the inspection of infrastructure projects being developed under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) initiative, according to a news source published on September 15.

Sources revealed that China would first use AI-powered robots for the inspection of the Matiari-Lahore Power Transmission & Transformation project. They added that as many as 20 robots would be utilized for this purpose. Reportedly, the State Grid Corporation of China (SGCC) already completed the testing of these robots last week.
According to the details available, traditional inspection techniques presented various problems like poor detection quality, high labour intensity, and low work efficiency. To overcome these issues, China decided to deploy AI technology for a comprehensive inspection of CPEC infrastructure projects.

Official sources further revealed that the regular inspection of the Matiari-Lahore project would ensure that all its components were functioning normally. The project comprises of the first high-voltage direct current transmission line developed by China and Pakistan.
