Sialkot: Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif has laid the foundation stone of the PKR 1.83 billion Waste Water Treatment Plant (WWTP) in Sialkot, news sources reported on June 06. The plant will be the first of its kind in the city and will be developed with the help of a Chinese firm.

Reportedly, the PKR 1.83 billion worth Waste Water Treatment Plant will span over an area of 239 acres and will be capable of treating 68.23 cusecs of contaminated water. The water will be treated as per the World Health Organisation (WHO) standards.

Moreover, it was said that China’s Shaanxi Water Resources & Hydro Power Engineering Group Company Ltd. (SWEG) will carry out the project’s execution. The contract for the project was awarded last year by the government of Punjab under the city development projects. As per Project Concept-1 (PC-1), the project will be completed within a period of two years (2025) from the date of award of the contract.
