Lahore: A spokesperson of the Chinese Foreign Ministry Hua Chunying issued a statement in Beijing saying China is firmly committed to promoting the construction of projects under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), to facilitate the people of Pakistan, according to news sources. She revealed China’s willingness to expand and enrich the scope of CPEC for Pakistan’s socioeconomic benefit.

Hua Chunying expressed these sentiments while commenting on the completion of the Sukkur-Multan motorway (M-5), which makes a large section of the Peshawar-Karachi Expressway project, currently under progress as part of CPEC.
She also noted that with a length of 392 kilometres, this project is the largest transportation infrastructure under CPEC and has been completed ahead of schedule. The project began in August 2016 and ended on July 23 this year. The project trained a large number of technicians and created about 29,000 jobs for locals.

The Foreign Ministry spokesperson also expressed high hopes for the promotion of economic and social development between two countries through the completion of this project. She said that Pakistan and China’ s strategic partnership has withstood numerous ups and downs, and CPEC is a landmark project showcasing the cooperation between the two nations.
