According to reports, the programme was unveiled during a conference on Pakistan’s sustainable development and the BRI. It was said that the major goal of the initiative would be to bring governments from both sides, as well as ministries and businesses, together to create eco-friendly projects. The primary goal would be to encourage and steer Chinese infrastructure expenditures away from carbon-intensive investments and toward green infrastructure projects, such as transitioning from coal to renewable energy sources such as wind, solar, and hydropower.
On the occasion, Acting Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China in Pakistan Pang Chunxue stated that the green initiatives under the BRI will assist the people of Pakistan while also helping to combat global climate change. She stated that Pakistan and China’s relations have improved in a variety of sectors, including sustainable development, contemporary food security, and energy infrastructure.
