Islamabad: China has shown interest in becoming part of the Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Pakistan and India (TAPI) gas pipeline project, reported a news source. Their prime interest is to build a gas pipeline link from Pakistan to China once the project completes.
The Tapi Project is expected to carry 33 billion cubic metres of natural gas. According to Inter State Gas System CEO Mobin Saulat, the project interest china because Tapi could act as a substitute for OBOR sub-project. For that purpose, laying a gas pipeline between China and Turkmenistan would be costlier than having one via Pakistan.
