Islamabad: Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Ahsan Iqbal stated that China is willing to invest in the mining sector of Pakistan, according to news published in the leading newspaper on October 19.

A meeting was held to review the progress of the 11th Joint Cooperation Committee (JCC) meeting scheduled to be held at the end of this month. During the meeting, the minister stated that Chinese authorities are ready to set up a working group on the mining sector. He directed the concerned ministry to draft tangible proposals.
Moreover, the Planning & Development Minister Iqbal asked the Power Division to speed up the approval process of the energy policy for Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) so that already approved projects could be pushed forward. He directed that the development and production facility of solar panels for export and domestic use should be considered for the meeting’s agenda.

A representative from Information Technology Ministry (whose name was not disclosed) mentioned that Pakistan and China have decided to set up six sub-working groups on policy and regulation, communication technology infrastructure, radio spectrum regulation, application innovation, cyber security, and HR Development.
