Islamabad: Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Nong Rong, on Wednesday (October 12), expressed his interest in investing in the expansion of Pakistan’s housing sector, news sources reported.

The envoy expressed his interest during a meeting with the Federal Secretary of Housing and Works Iftikhar Ali Shallwani. He said that Pakistan’s housing market is expanding at a rapid rate and that investment in the housing sector would also bring innovation in construction technology. In this regard, Chinese companies will invest in technology sharing and expertise as well. On the occasion, Secretary Shallwani invited the envoy to attend the first international Housing Expo-2022 that is going to be happening in November this year.

It is vital to highlight that Pakistan has undertaken one of the country’s largest house development initiatives, with the goal of providing inexpensive and decent housing for the low-income population. The government has initiated several programs, including the Naya Pakistan Housing Project (NPHP) and the Mera Pakistan Mera Ghar (MPMG) Scheme. Both programmes attempt to enhance the country’s mortgage facilities by providing loans for up to 20 years.
