The Chief Justice, during the EOBI case hearing sternly reprimanded the EOBI officials by saying that EOBI was a department storing funds of the masses, but corruption is rampant there more than ever. Everybody spends money wherever they want. He also said that if you were given the power to oversee massive amounts of money it didn’t mean that it should be squandered without a thought. He said that even one penny’s dishonesty was corruption and thus punishable.
The new appointed chairman Ayub Sheikh accepted that the land was indeed, bought at a very expensive rate in overall 18 transaction. He also said that purchase of more than Rs 50 Lac was passed for approval to board of trustees but this didn’t happen. He clarified to the jury that the pre audit system is restored and all the people involved in corruption were undergoing a departmental trail for corruption. Also in the hearing the Eden housing submitted 97.6 billion during hearing.
DHA officials pleaded that the frozen accounts be released so that the thousands of DHA employees could be paid their salaries before EID. The court said that it will pass their decision tomorrow. The court has asked the new chairman EOBI to make a complete report of all transactions and submit it in the court.
