Peshawar: The district administration on Thursday (March 24) informed the Peshawar High Court (PHC) that 21 illegal housing projects in Charsadda were sealed and cases against seven owners of such schemes were registered, according to media reports.

As per the details, a two-member bench comprising of Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim and Justice Roohul Amin Khan was informed that a report was submitted to the court containing information about sealing illegal housing schemes that spread across 2,803 kanals of land. A petition was filed by Advocate Asif Ali Shah against the development of residential projects on agricultural lands in Charsadda.
According to Advocate Babar Khan Yousafzai, TMA with the approval of a committee of the district administration awarded No Objection Certificates (NOCs) to the private housing societies. The bench observed that every society must have proper systems for the provision of electricity, natural gas, sewerage, and clean water. It was decided that the bench would determine whether the relevant organisations were consulted or not before the issuance of NOCs.

Reportedly, the petitioner stated that the residents of Charsadda were dependent on livestock, fishing, and agriculture. He went on to say that due to the establishment of illegal housing societies on agricultural land, livestock farming, fishing, and agriculture was being threatened.
