Rawalpindi: The feasibility report for Chahan Dam project, which is meant to provide potable water to the city and irrigate agricultural land, has been prepared, reported a news source. Construction of the dam will be completed in three years at a cost of PKR 5 billion, and it will provide six million gallons of water per day.
The dam will supply water to six union councils of Rawalpindi; Dhaman Syedan, Dhamial, Kalial, Girja, Chakira and Chak Jalal Din. For water supply to these union councils, a 28 inch diameter supply line will be laid. While a water pumping station and overhead tanks will also be set up at Girja.
So far, the government has released PKR 200 million for the project. Efforts are also being made to start the construction of Dadocha Dam during the start of the next year. Dadocha Dam will be constructed in two years.
