Peshawar: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Housing Minister Amjad Ali revealed on Thursday that the federal government had introduced a ‘home financing facility’ to provide affordable housing to the province’s low-income strata, a news source reported.

The minister revealed that the government will construct grey structures for 20,000 homes in Peshawar’s Sarozai area in collaboration with the Pakistan Housing Foundation. The project will be completed at a cost of PKR 97 billion.
Ali later announced that journalists will have 2% quota in Sarozai Housing Scheme similar to their quota in Jalozai Housing Scheme. He also revealed that 85% of the development work has been completed in the Jalozai Housing Scheme and possession will be provided to allottees in December. He also announced Jalozai Housing Scheme is going to be extended by another 5,000 kanals.

Moreover, the minister went on to say that the government has issued instructions to district administrations to identify land for affordable housing projects. He added that all the housing schemes will be constructed on barren land and agricultural land will not be used for this purpose.
