Secretary Planning Development and Special Initiatives Mathar Niaz Rana revealed this information to the media after a meeting of the Senate Standing Committee on Planning, Development and Special Initiatives on Monday.
Mr Rana briefed the gathered press that the committee had made it clear to the provinces, especially Balochistan, to make an assignment account for the project director in which funds for federally-funded development projects could be transferred.

He further added that it could take two to three months to procure funds under the currently-practised mechanism. Under the going procedure, the funds are first transferred to the official account no 1 of the province, then to the provincial secretary of finance, and then released to the project director — with the entire process deemed time-consuming and causes delays in development projects.
