Lahore: The cement sector posted growth of 16.28% in January 2021 as against the same month last year, with the total cement despatches for January 2021 registering at 4.73 million tonnes against 4.07 million tonnes from last year – a news source reported on February 3.

According to the data released by the All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA), the local cement despatches in the month of January 2021 rose to 4.03 million tonnes as against 3.26 million tonnes in January 2020 – a growth of 23.67%. The exports, however, registered a decline of about 14.09% from 808,874 tonnes to 694,934 tonnes.

According to the region-wise breakdown, the North despatched 3.31 million tonnes locally – an increase of about 23.48% from the 2.68 million tonnes despatched last year. South registered even higher increase for local sales; showcasing a 24.59% uptick. Local despatches from South stood at 724,281 as against 581,316 last year.
