Lahore: Cement sales in the country were seen to reach a ‘record-high’ during the month of September; with 5.21 million tons sold in the said month as compared to the 4.27 million tons of cement sales notified in September 2019, a news source reported on October 4.

As per the data released by the All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA), the local sales of cement in September rose by 17.65% year-on-year. Exports witnessed an even higher growth of 40.95% from 0.79 million tons (September 2019) to 1.12 million tons.
Moreover, the South region has also seen significant growth with domestic cement sales rising by 26.84%. Meanwhile, the exports from the same region has risen by 56.53%.

Reportedly, the construction incentive package announced by Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan has seen the demand for cement rise – boosting its growth; while the cement industry itself has attracted large investments in new plants and modern machinery according to APCMA’s statement.
