Lahore: The All Pakistan Cement Manufacturing Association (APCMA) on Thursday (September 23) said that a rise in cement prices is imminent in near future, news sources reported.

The spokesperson of APCMA said that the increase in cement prices will happen due to the increasing coal prices and the increasing demand for cement in the construction industry. The rapid rise in demand has already pushed cement dispatches up to 4.336 million tonnes in August 2021 as compared to the 3.531 million tonnes in the same period last year. The local demand for the cement is likely to increase by 7.7% in fiscal year (FY)-22, 10.0% in FY-23 and 6.1% in FY-24.

The cement industry has announced its plan of expanding the manufacturing capacity by 28% to reach total cement production of 88.6 million tonnes by FY-25. In this regard, a total of 19.4 million tonnes more will be added to the total output.
