Gujranwala: In view of the suspected shortage of bricks in the future, plans are being made to introduce cement blocks, a news source reported. To curb environmental pollution, brick kilns will be closed down in the entire division between October 20 and December 31, 2018, and a campaign is being conducted to persuade the brick kiln industry to transfer from old technology to the modern zigzag technology.
The prices of bricks have already increased in Gujranwala division, in view of which the Gujranwala Deputy Commissioner (DC) had set the rate of a 1,000 bricks at PKR 7,500. Some brick kilns have decided to introduce cement blocks made of cement, sand, fine concrete, and iron wires to replace bricks.
It should be remembered that in Karachi, Hyderabad and other parts of Sindh, bricks have been replaced by cement blocks and they help decrease construction time as well.
