Islamabad: The Ministry of Planning will submit the PC-1 for the first package of the Karachi-Peshawar Main Line (ML-1) project before the Central Development Working Party (CDWP) – in order to gain its approval – later this month, according to a news source. One of the ministry officials informed the Parliamentary Committee on China-Pakistan-Economic-Corridor (CPEC) of this development on Wednesday.

Previously, Minister for Railways Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed spoke to the media about the installation of train tracks for the Karachi-Peshawar Main Line project. He said that the development work on the project would commence in the current year. He also expressed great hopes that ML-1 project would improve the railways infrastructure and services in Pakistan.

Moreover, Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan recently directed the Pakistan Railways administration to expedite the up-gradation work on rail tracks of ML-1. This project is expected to cost USD 8.2 billion and is being executed under the aegis of the CPEC project.
