Islamabad: The Central Development Working Party (CDWP) on Monday cleared four projects mostly pertaining to the energy sector and worth billions of rupees – a news source reported.
Federal Minister for Planning, Development & Reform Khusro Bakhtiar presided over a meeting to this effect in Islamabad. Out of the four schemes, the participants referred three to the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) for final approval.

The approved projects include a hydropower programme for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) – to be developed at a cost of PKR 552.71 million. The three schemes forwarded to ECNEC for formal approval are:
- A 500kV High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) Transmission System between Tajikistan and Pakistan for Central Asia-South Asia Transmission Interconnection (CASA-1000), at a cost of PKR 45.989 billion
- A 310MW hydropower project for Balakot on Kunhar River, a tributary of the Jhelum River, at a cost of PKR 85.913 billion
- A Bus Rapid Transport (BRT) Red Line project for Sindh at a cost of PKR 77.598 billion; under which metro bus corridors would be constructed from Numaish to Malir Halt depot
