Islamabad: The Central Development Working Party (CDWP) has advanced seven key projects, totalling PKR 559.766 billion, to bolster Pakistan’s infrastructure and public welfare, according to a news source on November 13.
In a meeting chaired by Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal, three projects (PKR 8.23 billion) received immediate approval, while four major initiatives (PKR 551.536 billion) were recommended to the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) for final review.
Key projects include:
Housing & Infrastructure:
Flood Response Emergency Housing Project (Phase I, PKR 447 billion), primarily funded by the World Bank, to rebuild homes and infrastructure in flood-hit Sindh.
Health Initiatives:
Maternal and Child Health Equipment for flood-impacted areas in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (PKR 3.147 billion).
Hepatitis C Elimination Program (PKR 67.77 billion) targeting screening and treatment for 82.5 million people nationwide, led by a national task force under the Prime Minister.
Diabetes Prevention Program (PKR 6.8 billion) to extend diagnosis and treatment services, initially focused on federal areas.
Manpower Development:
Balochistan Youth Internship Program (PKR 1.82 billion), offering skill-building and employment opportunities for youth in flood-affected regions.
Science & Technology:
Institute of Petroleum Technology (PKR 3.271 billion), aimed at advancing technical expertise in energy.
Transport:
CAREC Corridor Development Project (PKR 29.966 billion) to enhance connectivity across several key areas with new roads, bridges, and drainage systems.
