Islamabad: The Central Development Working Party (CDWP) on Monday (December 27) approved development projects worth PKR 191.722 billion, including Karachi’s 650 million gallons daily (MGD) water supply project K-IV, news sources reported. Other projects include the NIH safe blood transfusion project and Policy Papers (PP) related to education and the Information and Technology Sector.

According to reports, CDWP authorities have recommended the PKR 191.194 billion ‘Greater Karachi Bulk Water Supply Scheme K-IV 650 MGD (1st Revised)’ water project to the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (Ecnec) for further consideration after deliberations and recommendations. The committee also proposed that the project’s scope be reduced by 260 MGD and cost by PKR 126 billion before it is submitted to ECNEC, as well as the formation of a committee to address specific difficulties and concerns.

According to the ministry of water and power, the project is intended to relieve the citizens of water crisis. Similarly, the committee approved a revised safe blood transfusion services project for Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) for PKR 528 million under the National Institute of Health (NIH).
