Islamabad: The Central Development Working Party (CDWP) has approved and recommended infrastructure and education projects worth Rs259.68 billion. During a meeting chaired by Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives Ahsan Iqbal, the forum referred key projects to the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) for final approval.

Key Road and Transport Projects:
Dualization of Rawalpindi-Kahuta Road (28.4 km) – Includes a four-lane bridge over Sihala Railway Pass, along with Sihala and Kahuta bypasses (Rs23.54 billion).
Sindh Flood Emergency Rehabilitation Programme (SFERP-I) – Focused on rebuilding transport infrastructure damaged by the 2022 floods (Rs88.40 billion).
Key Education and Development Projects:
Daanish Schools in Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu & Kashmir – Establishment of new schools to enhance education access (Rs8.9 billion).
Prime Minister’s Pakistan Fund for Education (Pak-PEF) – A major education initiative aimed at improving literacy and school access (Rs14 billion).
Pak-USAID Merit and Need-Based Scholarship Program (Phase-II) – A scholarship program to support higher education (Rs2.95 billion).
Arshad Nadeem/Shehbaz Sharif High-Performance Sports Academy – A sports training facility at the Pakistan Sports Complex, Islamabad (Rs2.67 billion).

Minister Ahsan Iqbal emphasized the government’s commitment to infrastructure and human capital development, directing his ministry to ensure the timely execution of all approved projects.
