Islamabad: The Central Development Working Party (CDWP) has approved five development projects worth PKR 124 billion, a news source reported. These include a mega mass transit project for Karachi as well.
The Minister for Planning & Reforms Makhdum Khusro Bakhtyar chaired the CDWP meeting attended by federal and provincial representatives.
The meeting also approved PKR 385.135 million project of Ministry of National Health which entails services, regulation and coordination for upgradation of Gastroenterology Department/Replacement of Equipment for advanced Liver and GI diseases at Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), Islamabad.
The meeting also cleared four mega development projects with a combined estimated cost of Rs123.6bn on technical grounds. These will now be sent to the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) for formal approval.
The CDWP can only approve projects costing no more than PKR 3bn while the projects with higher estimated costs are approved by ECNEC, once the CDWP clears them on technical grounds.
